New York Police promptly responded to a bomb scare on Eight Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets in Manhattan after they got a phone call about suspiciously looking luggage in the street. Police blocked the whole area between 52nd and 55th Streets and between 7th and 9th Avenues, and advised people to evacuate from buildings nearby, after which the officer from bomb squad dressed in protective costume checked the luggage. Luckily, it turned out to be belongings of some homeless person. Nevertheless, it is good to know that NYPD is ready for any situation as they handled today's bomb scare professionally, efficiently and fast. New York, August 20, 2002.
